This meeting will capitalize on the burgeoning national interest in Health Impact Assessment (HIA) and convene policy makers, public health professionals, HIA practitioners and anyone with an interest in learning more about HIA. It also will offer a special, one-day forum tailored specifically to decision makers at all levels of government in the U.S.
Meeting Objectives
- Introduce public health professionals and others new to HIA to the appropriate applications, methods and challenges involved in HIA.
- Provide a forum for HIA practitioners to showcase their work through in-depth presentations, as well as to learn from each other and experts in related disciplines through discussions on topics of current interest.
- Introduce decision makers outside the health sector to HIA, appropriate applications and resources for applying HIA in their fields of interest.
Audience
This conference will cater to a range of people, including: current HIA practitioners; public health and health policy professionals; community-based organizations; researchers; elected officials and their staff; and decision makers from non-health agencies who might use or rely on the results of an HIA, such as planning, transportation, housing, agriculture, energy, environment and education.
